Thank you for your interest in learning a little more about me.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with special training and experience working with young people, families, chronic and acute trauma, as well as eating disorders.
No insightful words or welcomed advice can effect change without a trusting, respectful relationship to start, so the foundation of my work as a therapist is the Relationship. Yes, I care about building skills and gaining insight, processing trauma and behavioral modifications. But the reason why I am an effective therapist is because I am genuinely invested.
Thanks to my personality and warmth, I relate easily with young people. Many of my clients are finding their way through young adulthood and talk about identity, relationships, school, family, sexuality and career. Others are older, and navigating other struggles like marriage, parenting, and grief. No matter the topic, I bring my heart and humor. I absolutely love my work.
Previously, I lived and worked in San Diego where I was the lead clinician and clinical supervisor at an eating disorder treatment program. It was in that position that I made professional use of my personal experience with an eating disorder. I know eating disorders from the inside out, so mine is an authentic voice and a compassionate heart for both sufferers and their family members.
In addition to EMDR, I’ve taken a particular interest in Internal Family Systems, breath-work and guided meditations in session. Maybe none of those words mean much to you right now – but they will soon!
